To accommodate additional guests to the region during the eclipse weekend, four parks have been designated as viewing areas:
Old Butte Soccer Complex
Freeman Park
Community Park
Tautphaus Park.

In addition, three city parks will be opened for overnight camping – Sandy Downs, Idaho Falls Raceway (Noise Park) and South Tourist Park. While Sandy Downs and Idaho Falls Raceway will only be opened to overnight camping during the eclipse weekend (Aug. 17 – Aug. 21), South Tourist Park subsequently will be designated as a permanent pay-to-stay campground. The non-residential camping fee for Sandy Downs & Idaho Falls Raceway is $100 per night, 3 night minimum. Click here to make reservations. No refunds. Idaho Falls residents can make reservations by visiting the Recreation Center at 520 Memorial Drive ($50/night).
